Meet Lexi + Oso
Thanks for stopping by. I’m Lexi, the artist behind Koro Illustration. I create detailed pen-and-ink drawings inspired by wildlife and the natural details I notice in the places I live, visit, and spend time outside.
I’m a lifelong artist and self-taught naturalist with a background spanning graphic design, social sciences, and farming. I’m drawn to pen and ink for the way it can be both simple and incredibly precise.
The smiling creature next to me is my rescue husky, Oso. He's usually nearby so he gets an introduction. He’s named after osoberry, a plant native to the Pacific Northwest.
My Process
-
01 Location
I have pretty poor studio etiquette and will draw almost anywhere from pretzeled into my parked car to in my actual studio, which is tucked into a cozy corner of northwest Washington.
-
02 Research
Most pieces begin with something that catches my attention, whether it’s an unusual behavior, an overlooked detail, or simply a subject I want to understand better. Once something has my attention, I tend to go down a research rabbit hole before putting it into ink. The research is half the fun, so I share a piece of it with every item in the form of an educational fact.
-
03 Production
Every design begins with a small pencil thumbnail, followed by more detailed sketches when needed. Once I begin inking, each mark is permanent, and the drawing slowly takes shape line by line. I then adapt it into archival prints, paper goods, stickers, and temporary tattoos. My stickers are locally printed, while everything else is made by me in-house.

MY HOPE
I hope my work gives you a reason to pause, look a little closer, and learn something new.
